What is it?

3D-Secure is a program created by international issuers Visa (Verified By Visa) and Mastercard (Mastercard Secure Code) to enhance the security of card payments on the Internet. The objective is twofold:

- Reduce the risk of fraud, in particular identity theft and unpaid invoices relating to the contestation of the payment order,
- Offer buyers on the Internet a reassuring and secure payment process.

This program is based on the implementation of an additional control when making an online purchase. To function, the merchant and the Internet user must be enrolled in the 3D-Secure payment device.

How does it work?

  1. The user makes a purchase on a 3D-Secure website;
  2. When paying for his order, the customer enters his usual banking information (card number, validity date and visual cryptogram);
  3. If the customer is registered 3D-Secure, the cardholder is redirected to the authentication site of his bank.
  4. The customer authenticates with his bank.
  5. After validation of this entry by the user and agreement of the bank of the latter, the buyer's bank transmits an agreement to the merchant to continue the payment procedure.
  6. The proof of 3D-Secure payment is archived.

PayPal

By using PayPal as a payment method to pay for a purchase, both France and abroad, if you do not receive your item, PayPal will refund the full amount of the transaction, including shipping costs. In addition this protection is free.

To benefit from this protection here are the main conditions: PayPal protects eligible material goods that can be shipped. Non-tangible goods (digital goods, software downloads, services, etc.) and hand-delivered objects are not covered. You must file your dispute within 45 days of your purchase and respect the claim deadlines. The total amount of the purchase must be paid in one go. Depending on the case, proof of shipment or proof of delivery will be requested from the seller.
